Trent Reznor working with Beats by Dre

Trent Reznor announced via his Facebook page a project with Beats by Dre:
Some of you may have read that I have begun working with Beats By Dre. For the past year I have indeed been involved with Dre, Jimmy Iovine, Luke Wood, and the rest of the team on a number of very interesting projects that will start to emerge next year. I have been wanting to experiment and focus my energy and creativity in some different directions, and Beats has afforded me that very opportunity. The process has been challenging and fascinating and as much as I'd like to tell you about the things we've dreamed up... I just can't.
Not yet...
(I can tell you it's probably not what you're expecting!)

Rob Sheridan also announced his involvement via Facebook:

Something interesting/unexpected I've been involved in with Trent for the past year. Can't give any details beyond what he said..

Thanks to loveandzombies and DigitalChaos for the heads up.

TV Channel Ovation is airing a series called "Song By Song" that focuses on Johnny Cash. An episode about "Hurt", Cash's NIN cover, will air October 21, 2012.

Hurt (2003)
One of Cash's final and most unlikely hits. This painful ballad was written and performed by super star Trent Reznor. The Nine Inch Nails front man explains why he was reluctant to allow Johnny to record he song in this episode.

Info here:

Thanks to TheBang for posting this to NIN spotting on

UPDATE: Despite the description, Trent Reznor did not appear in this episode. He's mentioned quite a few times and they show a very old Pretty Hate Machine era picture of him but he's not interviewed at all.

I can Keep It Together

Earlier on Monday, Zane Lowe debuted the new track by How to destroy angels_, "Keep it Together" on BBC1. Almost immediately afterward, the track was posted to Soundcloud and if you're the type who likes listening to MP3s of vinyl rips, the YouTube copy of the song is video of a reel-to-reel tape playback of the single.

If you want to listen to the track without being connected to the internet while you do it, Amazon and iTunes both sell DRM-free copies for $1.29. Amazon opened up pre-orders for the vinyl edition of An omen_ again, but HTDA collectivist Rob Sheridan suggests you wait to see what pre-order options show up on the official site.

HTDA digital single announced on Amazon

On Tuesday, the first single from "An Omen" will be available as a download - Keep It Together has a run time of 4:29, and features the artwork posted to the How To Destroy Angels tumblr three days ago. The genre on the page is "Dance & DJ".

I'm only really mentioning the genre as an segue for this clip of The Young Americans that I came across today. It's actually from YouTube's Video on Demand service, posted by Lionsgate films. Someone at Lionsgate is clearly a NIN fan, given that they have the entire film to choose a clip from, and they pick the scene that happens to have an unreleased version of the Fixed remix of Gave Up done by Coil & Danny Hyde, and not much else going on.

Now go load up Fixed into your music player, because when's the last time you listened to Fixed?
