Nine Inch Nails Announce Tour Dates

Originally published in Rolling Stone on March 1, 2000

Trent Reznor proves you can go home again. A New Orleans resident for the past seven years, Reznor has chosen to kick off his American tour in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio, on April 12. The projected forty-five-date tour will mark the reclusive artist's first tour in five years, ostensibly to promote Nine Inch Nail's 1999 release, The Fragile.

Dubbed "Fragility Tour v2.0," Reznor has drafted guitarist-keyboardist Danny Lohner, guitarist-keyboardist Robin Finck, keyboardist Charlie Clouser and drummer Jerome Dillon for his touring band -- the same outfit that has accompanied him on his recent jaunt through Europe, the Far East and Australia. Despite the rumors, NIN have not selected Filter to open up for them. Instead they tapped A Perfect Circle -- the side project of Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howardel -- whose debut album, Mer de Noms, will be released on May 23. According to insiders, the reason Reznor chose A Perfect Circle, may have had more to do with Howardel than with Keenan; the talented picker was a long time member of NIN's road crew.

The first NIN dates are:

4/12: Cleveland, Ohio, CSU Convocation Center
4/14: Detroit, Mich., Palace of Auburn Hills
4/15: Columbus, Ohio, Schottenstein Center
4/17: Minneapolis, Minn., Target Center
4/18: Milwaukee, Wis., U.S. Cellular Arena
4/20: Indianapolis, Ind., Conseco Fieldhouse
4/21: Chicago, Ill., UIC Pavilion
4/22: Madison, Wis., Dane County Coliseum
4/25: Grand Rapids, Mich., Van Andel Arena
